Garbage

Garbage

Overview

Web series – 12 episodes – 10min/episode

When bombs go off simultaneously at landfill sites and sorting centres all over the world, ecoterrorism group REVERT claims responsibility for the attacks. In order to ensure people’s safety, the Mayor of Montreal suspends all garbage collection services, thus turning the city into a gigantic dumping ground. Judith, a young single mother, has to get her asthmatic son out of this stinking hellish landscape. Her solution? To move to Saint-Jérôme, the only municipality in Quebec that seemingly enjoys clean air and green grass. To get there, she needs to amass a fortune. So she dives head first in the illegal garbage trade, making people’s trash “disappear” for a hefty fee. And all that without arousing suspicion in the minds of her sister Laurence, a passionate and committed environmentalist, of her father, a former garbage collector, and of family friend Pascale, newly appointed Green Transition Director at the City of Montreal.

The production has won a Vivats Award for Best Sustainable Production and has gained recognition by the media for it’s environmentally conscious means of production. Fun fact, the production crew gathered their garbage and recycling for 2 months prior shooting in order to have the gardbage we see on screen.
