Director Story

Daniel Yam is an award winning filmmaker who loves to take his audience on a journey to discover the beauty of humanity. Often heart warming and sentimental, his works champion the human spirit. Daniel’s works are seen by more than 500 million viewers worldwide.

Daniel is trained in directing and cinematography. He is the first generation graduate from the Film Sound and Video at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

He has been in the media industry for more than a decade. He takes pleasure in working with clients from both the public and private sectors to shape stories that connect with the audience emotionally. His works include TV commercials, branded short films, TV series and feature films.

One of Daniel’s works – Ripple has won the hearts of over 500 million viewers worldwide and ranked 1st on JudgeAd 2016 beating other entries from Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Another of his short film GIFT has over 50 million viewers and audience volunteered to subtitle the film to their languages so that more people could appreciate the story. GIFT is now on more than 10 subtitled languages and has traveled the world at numerous international film festivals.

His short films for Singapore Housing Development Board PROMISE I and PROMISE II were commended and shared by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his Facebook.

Another of his short film Open Doors that has garnered more than 100 million views worldwide.

His most recent project is TIME a short film supported by SFC that launches Viddsee’s first original production.

Daniel is one of the 4 directors in the feature film 4Love. His second feature film, Wonder Boy, co-directed with Dick Lee, Singapore’s best-known personalities in the music scene, is selected as the opening film for Fukuoka International Film Festival 2017 and nominated for Golden Horse Netpac 2017.

Daniel is now working on post-production for his 3rd feature film “The Fatekeeper” to be release in 2020.

When Daniel is invited to work on a project – to him it is like being given a magical key – a privilege and opportunity to open the hearts to his audience and unite them with a worthy cause.
